Summary of The Mysterious Benedict Society



        



        The Mysterious Benedict Society is a popular award-winning children’s book. Written by Trenton Lee Stewart, The Mysterious Benedict Society was a New York times bestseller, won the Booklist Editor’s Choice, Books for Youth award, the Notable Children’s Books award, and the Texas Lone Star award. 

        The plot revolves around Reynie Muldoon, an orphan who sees an advertisement in the newspaper for special opportunities by going through a series of tests. Reynie stands up to the challenge. He realizes that the tests progressively get harder as they continue. The last academic test is so difficult that some kids start crying and whimpering. A few of the kids even leave the room. When Reynie is announced to be the only one who passes the test in his session of testing, he is sent to a room and he waits a pretty long time. Two other kids named Sticky and Kate who also passed the test eventually ended up in the room with him. Finally, they go through a few difficult logic puzzles and eventually meet another team member, Constance. The four of them then meet Mr.Benedict, a person with narcolepsy that is constantly falling asleep. Mr.Benedict tells them about Ledroptha Curtain, a person who plans to control the world with his latest invention. Unfortunately, they do not know much about this invention and they are sent to investigate as spies. The four of them name themselves the Mysterious Benedict Society.

        Reynie, Kate, Constance, and Sticky embark on a dangerous mission to go to a learning institute controlled by Mr.Curtain, Mr.Benedicts’ identical and evil twin. Throughout their journey, they constantly need to use morse code to communicate and tell Mr.Benedict what is going on. When Sticky and Reynie are promoted for their learning abilities, the two friends face a new challenge, The Whisperer. The Whisperer is Mr.Curtains’ finest invention and is used to brainsweep and put people under his control. They end up stopping his plot to control the world but Mr.Curtain escapes. Mr. Benedict hacks into The Whisperer and obtains control of it. Mr.Benedict then uses The Whisperer to undo the damage caused by his brother. This book begins an unforgettable journey about Sticky, Kate, Constance, Reynie, and Mr. Benedict.

        Reading The Mysterious Benedict Society is a real way to pass time. I found this book urging me to turn the pages as if there were magical powers involved. This is the best page-turner I have ever read. The Mysterious Benedict Society makes it seem like you are doing the adventure alongside the characters. This book is a marvellous feat!

  Su Bingtian is the first ever Asian sprinter to break the ten second barrier on the 100 metre dash. Despite being five inches shorter than an average sprinter, his record of 6.42 seconds in the 60 metre dash is the fastest time in Asia and places him in the top five world wide. He even broke the 10 second barrier on the 100 metre dash.           Bingtian was born on the 29th of August, 1989 in the Guangdong province of China. His early career went mostly unnoticed until he obtained three straight wins in the Asian Grand Prix series in May of 2009. In 2011, he set a new Chinese record of 6.56 seconds in the 60 metre dash, and soon won the 2011 Asian Athletics Championship with a personal best of 10.21 seconds in the 100 metre dash, establishing himself as the top sprinter in China.
